Wear Where: Dries Van Noten's City Lights Shirt

Thanks to blogs and websites, we can observe in real time how trends spread in each city. Taking advantage of Aloha Rag's multiple locations, we asked our staff to style one of our favorite pieces of the season, Dries Van Noten's City-Lights shirt! This is the first in a new series of posts we like to call, Wear Where...

 

Here are the comments for the styling by the staff... 

 

HAWAII: Since we're in Hawaii, where the weather gets pretty hot and humid around this time of year, we styled the shirt as a jacket. We added a splash of neon with the tank, and finished with easy shorts and sparkly sandals for a touch of luxury... (The Row sunglasses, Surf Bazaar Tank, 3.1 Phillip Lim Shorts, Lanvin Sandals)

 

Tokyo: It's getting hotter and hotter every day in Tokyo, so we like wearing sorbet colors to keep our style temperature down. We emphasized the waistline with a wide belt, and paired the look with platform sandals to give it a few extra inches. We added the skull necklace to spice the style up and finished it with a sophisticated clutch! (Alaia belt, Carven Shorts, Lanvin Sandals, Celine clutch, Florian necklace)

 

New York: We played off the color of the blouse since it evokes thoughts of a beautiful Spring or Summer day.  We wanted our girl to look bright, fresh and cute from head to toe! (AR trousers, Martin Margiela sandals, Florian Necklace, Lanvin sunglasses)

I am so into...

The SS collections are now in full swing in Aloha Rag's Honolulu store! Each season the staff makes a "Want List" before the items arrive, and when they do arrive we switch them over to a "Shoppable List", which we stare at every day. We take advantage of being with the items, investigating them and trying things on. I wish I could check off my entire "Want List", but I would have to report bankruptcy if I did that...  So, we have come up with a smart way to shop. Each staff has their favorite brands and items he/she collects, and they are directly included their lists and waiting the arrivals... 

I recently realized that even though it never ends up on either my want or shopping list, I always have an urge to buy Golden Goose  I finally found out that I am such a Golden Goose fan. 

These  items are my  personal buys this season.

- Their signature Equipage Bag
It opens wide with the side zippers so I can put many things all at once. I use it as an everyday bag, but it also perfect for a travel and airplane bag with it's boxy shape and rigid closure, and moreover, it comes in my favorite leopard print this season!!  It has a great combination of leopard canvas and dark brown leather, which can go with many of my outfits. 

 

- Superstar

I've always wanted the pair of GG's iconic Superstar, but never really purchased them. This season, they came with a perforated star, floral embossing on the outsole, black and purple laces and a touch of leopard print on the heels... They were irresistible and I had to have them

I use the Equipage bag to come to work since I always carry lots of things, and these Superstars are perfect when they are paired with shorts and denim! I wear them with one color of the shoe laces in each.

Florian Enthusiast...

When I heard we would start to carry Florian again, I was waiting for the delivery with excitement! Since the first time I've was introduced to his jewelry, I have been collecting and wearing them. I have been wearing his designs so long now, I feel as though something is missing without one of them on my neck. 

 

This is my Florian collection: 

From the big beads to the simple tiny ones, Florian's charm is in the combination of elements. They are simply festive to the eyes, and you can enjoy wearing them many ways! 

This season, I picked the long strand of neon yellow x pearls! You can layer it or double wrap it, and it can easily upgrade your daily style.

 

 PS: I brought my necklaces in small bag, and felt sorry they were all cramming up together in the small room...  but it is kind a cute way to display jewelry, right?

Honolulu Staff Shopping for FW

Most countries are now gradually entering their official Winters, and here at Hawaii, we are going to have rainy season soon... ! As much as we want to stay in our warm and cozy houses, we love to look good with new coats and boots when we go outside in the cold. As you know, Honolulu will not get that frosty in Winter, but boots and light outers, or thick sweaters are necessary!! 

 

 Since the staff also shops here at Aloha Rag, we would like to share with you a few of our purchases! First, the most-loved Lanvin shoes 

Their flat shoes are our best friends when on the sales floor. Some customers have had trouble with the heel's elastic, but this season, the shapes have changed to be more comfortable compared to the past seasons. The sparkley flower charm flat is Kumi's, the gold x big black bow pair is owned by Yoki, and the dark red is Alisa's, and gold lizard pair is owned by both Kumi and I!! 

I also purchased the loafer heels with tassel, it has stable heels and feminine cut!! This pair is very easy to walk in and very elegant. I tended to wear casual styles mostly these days, so this pair inspire me to dress more feminine! 

 

At last, Kumi and Yoki both purchased the wedge boots. They look like a flat boot, but it has covered heel inside to make the legs look longer! As an extra point, they are so comfortable to wear... The smooth suede is great for dressing up as well as for casual styles. 

 

Lanvin shoes always grab our hearts, makes us feel feminine with their beautiful designs!!

Me: AR / OXFORD TUNIC SHIRT

Super cute, very flowy and  soft against the skin. You can either wear it as a top or a dress depends on the side zip! It looks great with skinny denim or leggings, but it's a perfect mini dress for me because I am short. 

Yoki's pick: 3.1 PHILLIP LIM/FOLD OVER PANTS

The front pleats are a great detail to make legs slim and long, and they are made from a very comfortable material. It is a great bottom option for dressy attire, and if you roll them up, it goes with casual style as well. 

Kumi's pic: THE ROW /MILLERTON TOP

This sweater has a round  hem with a longer length in the back.  The classic camel color and V-neck are extra points! With short pants and boots, or slim pants, it can be paired in a lot of variations! It's getting colder here in Honolulu, so it will be heavy in my rotation for sure. 

 

And last but not least... Kumi and I's obsession, LUIS MORAIS bracelets!! 

Clover, yellow diamond cross, and Sun charms... I collect those with a yellow-gold base mostly, and Kumi collected the white gold clover, horseshoe and energy charms. We always have a bunch them on our wrists as lucky charm. Of course, they look cute as single bracelets too! It's easy to be obsessed with Luis Morais since he has a lot of amazing designs!! I might even say it's dangerous...
