Wear Where: Dries Van Noten's City Lights Shirt

Thanks to blogs and websites, we can observe in real time how trends spread in each city. Taking advantage of Aloha Rag's multiple locations, we asked our staff to style one of our favorite pieces of the season, Dries Van Noten's City-Lights shirt! This is the first in a new series of posts we like to call, Wear Where...

HAWAII: Since we're in Hawaii, where the weather gets pretty hot and humid around this time of year, we styled the shirt as a jacket. We added a splash of neon with the tank, and finished with easy shorts and sparkly sandals for a touch of luxury... (The Row sunglasses, Surf Bazaar Tank, 3.1 Phillip Lim Shorts, Lanvin Sandals)

 

Tokyo: It's getting hotter and hotter every day in Tokyo, so we like wearing sorbet colors to keep our style temperature down. We emphasized the waistline with a wide belt, and paired the look with platform sandals to give it a few extra inches. We added the skull necklace to spice the style up and finished it with a sophisticated clutch! (Alaia belt, Carven Shorts, Lanvin Sandals, Celine clutch, Florian necklace)

 

New York: We played off the color of the blouse since it evokes thoughts of a beautiful Spring or Summer day.  We wanted our girl to look bright, fresh and cute from head to toe! (AR trousers, Martin Margiela sandals, Florian Necklace, Lanvin sunglasses)

SS12 New Items...

It is just the beginning of Winter here in Tokyo, but there are many items arriving daily from SS collections at Aloha Rag! By just looking at them, it makes me excited for Spring. I'm already getting ready for the warm weather with new items recently added to my closet. 

 

 

My first purchase is the scarf from the new brand at Aloha Rag for SS12, DOSA. This scarf is not only perfect for wrapping around the neck, but it can be even worn like a cardigan for summertime. The wool-chiffon material is super fluffy and soft. The brand logo is embossed on the shell, a very subtle but unique touch from DOSA.

  

 

 

 

 

The camisole that I use as an underpinning is also from DOSA. The lace is very delicate and beautiful so I recommending showing it off! Besides the beautiful design, the material is just so amazing, and pleasing to the skin. It is effortlessly beautiful and chic. I also purchased the cardigan and leopard shorts from 3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-SS collection. Black and white leopard pattern is the key print from this collection, and we've also received dresses and shirts. This cardigan works perfectly with the vivid colors for Spring! RESTOCK!! Thomas Wylde Long Sleeve Leopard Top

Wow, that quickly sold-out right after delivery! This Thoma Wylde Leopard Top is going to be restocked in size small!!! The loose-fitting dolmen sleeve is perfect for an easy holiday look, but the shirt isn't too relaxed because of the feminine cut! Martin Margiela Line ⑬

Martin Margiela's Line ⑬, "Objects and Publications", makes a great gift for those you love. After designing a suite in the French Hotel Maison des Champs Elysees, Martin Margiela's interiors started to receive a lot of attention. His Line ⑬ has a lot of quirky, yet sophisticated and unique items. Pictured above is the Matryoshka dolls, a best seller in the line. Whenever we restock them, they leave the store so quickly! We are going to receive re-re-stock soon! I decorated my house with them as you can see, and I love the heart-warming feel because they are all hand-made in Russia, the mother country of Matryoshka. Each one is painted in Martin Margiela's signature color, milky white. Hand-made objects are in the spotlight again, so I think they are a perfect gift this year... We are going to receive many more items from this line soon, and it will be updated on the website any day!

It's the long rainy season in Tokyo right now , but my new bag makes me feel upbeat in this humid and dull weather! I purchased Celine's Mini Luggage Shopper, which we started to carry this season at Aloha Rag. Feminine touches and the best quality leather emphasize the beauty of this bag, and I usually pair casually with button down shirts.  Also, this Camel color perfectly complementary with my favorite colors, the pale pastels of Hydrangea flowers (pictured above)...! Japanese Brand

We carry many Japanese brands year round in our New York store to introduce the US to Japan's mix of innovative and classic fashion. We visited showrooms with Yoda during his business trip in Japan and selected great pieces for our FW10 collection.

Here are new mens brands that we'll carry next season. N.HOOLYWOOD is a well-known brand and this will be their last collection sold in Japan. This season, messages of World Peace coincide with their signature military theme.

These designs are from Factotum. Their denim collection is amazing and their line is ageless. Yoda even said "I want to take them home right now!

Here is Beautiful People for women. We have been carrying them in our New York Store and many New Yorkers have fallen in love. These photos are from their FW10 collection. It's love at first sight, and this season Beautiful People is especially attractive! (Please note their special sizing: The pieces are influenced by children's clothing but intended for adults!)
