The line exceeded our expectation with the collection full of Carhartt's classic workwear, polished with Adam Kimmel's refined choice of materials. The original Carhartt "C" logo is refreshened in navy blue, making it the trademark for this collaboration. We've received light jackets, basic pocket T-shirts, denim shirts, and work pants, and everything is a versatile staple for the ultimate closet. AR News: Sneak Peek

A couple of weeks ago, we've shot a few images of the new AR FW12 Women's collection on the Atelier's rooftop. Here are some behind the scenes shots we've snapped while shooting. It was a chilly late afternoon before sunset, but the sky was beautiful and it really corresponded to the collection... Mariel looked gorgeous in AR, and thank you for keeping the shooting going smooth in such a cold weather! FW12 look book images and videos are done for both men's and women's collections, and we cannot wait to unveil them... Big news is on it's way about AR, please wait for more updates!

Giullaume Henry on Globe De Cristal Award!

A few weeks ago, Guillaume Henry, creative director of Carven, was awarded the "Globe de Cristal" for being the most talented designer! He successfully regenerated the French fashion house since he was assigned to the creative directorship in 2009. Aloha Rag brought the brand in 2 seasons ago, and it's chic French design with modern twists quickly gained fans at our store. Congratulations Henry, we are very happy for you! We've received the SS12 Pre-collection at Aloha Rag, and main collection has started to arrive. SS12 Men's Floral!

When you think of floral patterns, a natural thought could draw you into the realm of a womenswear. However, we've witnessed floral patterns all over men's runways this season!  Junya Watanabe took a small floral patterned material and finished it with contrasting chambray patches. The small red flowers give a refreshing take on the industrial work-shirt silhouette... Ann Demeulemeester's leather corsage flourished everywhere on her runway for ss12. She molds her romantic and dark aesthetic into the form of a lily, which can easily be attached anywhere with it's pin and the shape is flexible as wire runs thorough the petals. In Raf Simon's presentation, flowers were also one of the themes. Instead of using literal floral patterns, the designer took the abstract approach, creating shadowy graphics which looks like X-Rays. If you already have a lot of plaids and stripes in your closets, floral patterns are equally as versatile as these classic patterns! Click on the links to see the items pages.

JUST IN: MM13 Calendar and Shoe Tree Hook

MM13 "Objects & Publications" line is popular at Aloha Rag because of its unique take on interior decorations... and we've just received some new styles! The calendar is made of white cotton and each date is embroidered! Considering the disposable character of the calendar, Margiela suggests recycling each month into a reusable napkin after it's turn. We also received the Shoe Tree Hook, and for inspiration, Martin Margiela took a literal approach to it...Who else could imagine a shoe-tree as wall mounted coat hook other than MM?  The wood grain adds a nice organic feeling to the piece too. The quantities we receive are limited and the MM13 line tends to fly out of the store quickly, so please peek the product pages!

Here are some weekly pictures that the Aloha Rag team took in Hawaii, Tokyo and New York! On top is a picture of Ohina-Sama, traditional girl and boy dolls! RESTOCK: DOSA

A new brand to Aloha Rag this SS12, DOSA has been very popular at the store since it's arrival. We love that all items are finished in beautiful fabrics with a nice soft touch... Many items flew out of the store quickly, and we restocked the styles below! 

 

   

The grey cashmere shawl has been restocked in a new color called Soba. Just like the name sounds, the color has a warm brownish-beige hue like Japanese soba. Spotlight: SS12 Girl. by Band of Outsiders

The designer of Girl. by Band of Outsiders, Scott Sternberg, explained his SS12 collection as the modern version of 70's cult Australian film, "Picnic at Hanging Rock". By layering crochet and floral patterns on flowy chiffon and cotton, he captured the nostalgic and girlie mood latent in the movie. The color palette is subtle and naive, mostly based on faded blues and cream, and we think the line pretty much sums up how girls now-a-days want to dress; romantic, delicate, and youthful! We've received the SS12 Pre-collection, and the main collection is on it's way. 3.1 Phillip Lim FW12 SneakPeak Video

The FW12 Fashion Weeks are happening right now everywhere around the world! One of the most anticipated collections at the NYFW was the 3.1 Phillip Lim show, and they just released a teaser video hot off the runway... and it is gorgeous! It shows close-ups of the material textures and beautiful movements of the garments that you can just not see in the still images, MUST WATCH... 

AR at Project Wooster...

While showing the FW12 Men's Collection at Pitti Uomo last month in Florence, AR had the honor of being invited to participate in this season's Project Wooster in Las Vegas... We seized the opportunity and took the voyage into the dessert and the city of sin. The flight across the country was a little bumpy, but Prince's Purple Rain was on the TV, and that made it an easy flight. Arriving at the venue, my first thought was that the show was huge... Project Wooster was a small corner in a massive fair, but as we merchandised and the booth came together, we could tell how special of an environment it really was. When the doors opened to the public on Monday, Project Wooster was a magnet, drawing people in from all over the fair... During coffee breaks we would see people studying maps quite far away from the booth, mumbling the words Project Wooster like it was a mythical place. For us, it was a nice oasis of well curated goods and we were very happy to partake! Nick Wooster and the Project team did an amazing job, and we would like to thank them for the opportunity...  Below are a few pictures that we snapped over the 3 days of the fair.

The black and white color coordination might not sound so new to most of us, but that doesn't mean its not intriguing.
