Thanks to blogs and websites, we can observe in real time how trends spread in each city. Taking advantage of Aloha Rag's multiple locations, we asked our staff to style one of our favorite pieces of the season, Dries Van Noten's City-Lights shirt! This is the first in a new series of posts we like to call, Wear Where...

HAWAII: Since we're in Hawaii, where the weather gets pretty hot and humid around this time of year, we styled the shirt as a jacket. We added a splash of neon with the tank, and finished with easy shorts and sparkly sandals for a touch of luxury... (The Row sunglasses, Surf Bazaar Tank, 3.1 Phillip Lim Shorts, Lanvin Sandals)
Tokyo: It's getting hotter and hotter every day in Tokyo, so we like wearing sorbet colors to keep our style temperature down. We emphasized the waistline with a wide belt, and paired the look with platform sandals to give it a few extra inches. We added the skull necklace to spice the style up and finished it with a sophisticated clutch! (Alaia belt, Carven Shorts, Lanvin Sandals, Celine clutch, Florian necklace)
New York: We played off the color of the blouse since it evokes thoughts of a beautiful Spring or Summer day. We wanted our girl to look bright, fresh and cute from head to toe! (AR trousers, Martin Margiela sandals, Florian Necklace, Lanvin sunglasses)

Over the past few seasons, Junya Watanabe has continuously collaborated with England's traditional shoe makers, Tricker's. These shoes came from the SS12 collection, and are perfectly in the middle of dressy and rugged, maintaining the perfect balance of elegance and masculinity! Need less to say, the stitching and boroguing are so beautiful on these, a Tricker's specialty... We've received Brown x Olive and Brown x Cream, two versatile color combos. Style.com just put out a great feature The Cult of Comme, which showcases 12 of the line's most devoted fan's with some of their favorite pieces. It is fascinating to see the various styles and looks worn by her fans, from the more subtle to the very avant garde. A friend of mine was even featured with some of her amazing pieces that have a permanent home in her closet!
Rei Kawakubo is truly a genius and one of my favorite designers, and I was fortunate enough to meet her years ago. I have such appreciation for her business acumen, creativity and willingness to not conform or follow trends.

A Few weeks ago when we shot the Summer Jewelry feature, we stopped by Milk & Cookies Bakery on Commerce Street. It is located on a beautiful block full of brownstones, on a bit of a hidden street in the West Village. They have all the classic cookie flavors that you can think of, and my favorite is the simple sugar cookie. They really capture that nostalgic homemade taste! We've tried their Chocolate Chip cookies and they are delicious too... Highly recommended!
